As RIB owners and operators, we saw day after day that tube pressure changes constantly with temperature, sunshine and natural air loss.
On a cold morning the boat felt softer; on a hot summer day the pressure could rise too high. What made it particularly inconvenient was that the pressure had to be checked before almost every outing, and the tubes often had to be topped up.
On a rescue, patrol or work boat, lost time and incorrect pressure can even affect readiness for deployment. That is when the question came up:

Since we found no suitable solution on the market, we started developing our own. More than two years of research and development produced RIB Air System: an intelligent pressure optimisation system that continuously monitors the condition of the tubes, corrects the pressure automatically and helps keep the boat ready to set off at all times.
Reliability, ease of use and the needs of professional users were the primary considerations throughout development. The system is currently being tested on water rescue, disaster management, harbour and leisure boats alike.
Safety and sustainability are not mutually exclusive
By keeping boat tubes at optimal pressure, RIB Air System aims to extend their service life considerably, reducing material fatigue and premature failures. This avoids unnecessary tube replacements, which generate significant waste. Extending the life of existing boats is one of the most effective ways to genuinely contribute to more sustainable boating.
